Tom Dernoga received an interim report as of June 9, from the feasibility study: the present lot is large enough for the building, but probably not for the required parking. Probably an additional ninety parking spaces (c. three quarters of an acre?) would be needed. Typically, house lots in that area are one-quarter to one-third of an acre. The report is due the end of June, but may require review before it is available. It should address the issue of where the library will be during rebuilding.

There will be a candidate forum for the city elections August 27 at 7:30. FOLL may want to ask questions.

Programs:

  • Barry Polisar is available every Sunday in October: will try for October 5 so as not to conflict with Riverfest and Teen Reading Week. He may be allowed to sell his materials: Roy will check.
  • Roy is attempting to find a Young Adult author for Teen-Reading Week, October 12-19.
  • We want to have a contest of book-inspired cakes. The entries would not be eaten: we would get a professional cake for that.
  • The Summer Reading Programs have 36 teenagers, 38 adults, 149 6-12 year-olds, and 91 0-5 year-olds.
  • Books-A-Million (local bookstore) would like to sponsor author-signings in conjunction with the library and/or FOLL. Roy Joynes will check on legalities.
  • Valerie Tripp program had 47 attendees.

The Treasurer's report was accepted. Our Certificate of Deposit (CD) will be formally labelled as being for new building expenses. Larry Bird needs an accounting as of June 30 for his required reports.

Steve LaBash is willing to serve as either the secretary or the vice-president. It was suggested that we may need an additional person to work on publicity. The current board was re-elected. Eileen will continue in her current position working on the newsletter.

The list-serve for our new website will send out messages for programs, meetings, etc., but no more than one per week.
